Cathryn (Cat) Margetts
1977-2004
On
May 25, 2004, Cathryn (Cat) Margetts lost her life while rescuing dogs
and cats from her burning home. Cat, an animal lover and professional
pet nanny, entered the burning house a number of times to save the lives
of animals in her care. During a final rescue attempt, Cat succumbed
to smoke inhalation, with her dogs - Adamie by her side and Max T Moose
in her arms.
Remembering
Cat
Cat's
family and friends have worked together to create a lasting legacy to
Cat's love for all creatures with the Cathryn
'Cat' Margetts Memorial Park Within a Park.
The park is complete and features a fountain, designed with two levels
to allow for human and animal access. A collection of trees, flowers,
and benches has been situated around the fountain, creating a place
of contemplation and celebration of life and nature.
The
Riverpark off-leash area, located at 4703 - 14A Street SW, was a favourite
destination for Cat and her dogs.
The
Cathryn
'Cat' Margetts Memorial Park Within a Park
was dedicated June 20, 2005 at 3PM.
We
would like to thank everyone who helped make this dream a reality!
